I am turning 24 in 24 days. Here are 24 things I have learned to do and not to do in my life:

  1. Read. Read often. Read all you can.
  2. You are what you eat.
  3. Money may buy you happiness, but not joy.
  4. It’s okay to express emotions – they are our reactions to external stimulants.
  5. Always say thank you to the person who holds the door for you.
  6. Don’t mix color and white clothes in the same washer.
  7. Have faith.
  8. Befriend someone who can motivate you to do your job well.
  9. Be cool with yourself. No one has been you except you. If you have a character flaw, work on it.
  10. Nothing beats spending time with friends around a bonfire with acoustic music and summer beers.
  11. Blame no one but yourself if you forgot your umbrella on a rainy day.
  12. Try living in a new place – you’ll develop new perspectives.
  13. No matter how good you are, someone out there can always do better than you; so never stop learning and trying.
  14. Listen to music that soothes your mind.
  15. It’s okay to eat desserts first.
  16. Spend time with yourself.
  17. You need to shower and wash your hair at least once a day.
  18. Sleep, so you can wake up.
  19. Keep a list of things you want to accomplish in the next 3-5 years.
  20. Keep a good handwriting – it reflects your personality.
  21. Smile a lot – it’s good for health and socializing.
  22. Befriend someone who doesn’t speak your language.
  23. Build a career out of your work.
  24. Figure out your passion, and let it drive your life.
