I am turning 24 in 24 days. Here are 24 things I have learned to do and not to do in my life:
- Read. Read often. Read all you can.
- You are what you eat.
- Money may buy you happiness, but not joy.
- It’s okay to express emotions – they are our reactions to external stimulants.
- Always say thank you to the person who holds the door for you.
- Don’t mix color and white clothes in the same washer.
- Have faith.
- Befriend someone who can motivate you to do your job well.
- Be cool with yourself. No one has been you except you. If you have a character flaw, work on it.
- Nothing beats spending time with friends around a bonfire with acoustic music and summer beers.
- Blame no one but yourself if you forgot your umbrella on a rainy day.
- Try living in a new place – you’ll develop new perspectives.
- No matter how good you are, someone out there can always do better than you; so never stop learning and trying.
- Listen to music that soothes your mind.
- It’s okay to eat desserts first.
- Spend time with yourself.
- You need to shower and wash your hair at least once a day.
- Sleep, so you can wake up.
- Keep a list of things you want to accomplish in the next 3-5 years.
- Keep a good handwriting – it reflects your personality.
- Smile a lot – it’s good for health and socializing.
- Befriend someone who doesn’t speak your language.
- Build a career out of your work.
- Figure out your passion, and let it drive your life.
